We attended the Classic Consoles and Arcade Gaming (CCAG) event in the Cleveland area in July, so I was pleased to find the Cleveland Gaming Classic being held in that same area. These events are just under two hours away from me, making them great day-trip events full of gaming.
While CCAG is largely a swap-meet style event, the Cleveland Gaming Classic promised more hands-on activities, which included an open play console and arcade area and a room dedicated to Tecmo Super Bowl competition. The big surprise of the event was its indie video game developer showcase, and more information about those games can be found on the GemuBaka highlights page.
I was a little taken aback at first because the main hallway had vendor tables filled with figures instead of video games, but, getting back to the main vendor room, there was plenty to find. It was great to see the full attendance at the event, but it made space tight as it looks like the event has outgrown its venue. It’s looking like the event will be held at a new venue starting next year, so it will be interesting to see how the Cleveland Gaming Classic grows.
Overall, it was a simple event that offered plenty to do within the 10-hour time frame it is held. Again, it’s excellent as the day trip type of event, and it allowed us to pick up more items for our collection.
To see more from the event and to check out what I picked up at the event, check out my video on the Cleveland Gaming Classic!
