Thankfully COVID didn’t completely ruin the momentum of the local Game Con event, as most of that group was able to move on and produce StarFight 21. This event focused solely on providing a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament, but it was able to garner decent traction thanks to its sponsors. The support allowed the event to offer a free-entry tournament with a $2,000 prize pool.
A supportive venue allowed the event to come together nicely and multiple Nintendo Switch systems were on deck to allow the competition to progress very smoothly. The event provided approximately eight hours of gameplay, leading to a first-place entrant walking away with $1,000.
